Collection: Fused Glass Paintings

Imagine, instead of dipping a brush in paint and placing it on the canvas, cutting and grinding each brushstroke out of glass. This is the first step in Jeweliyana's process. Each glass picture is painted with a high fire liquid glass and carved to add the finer details. Then it is painted with smashed up tiny particles of glass (called frit). It's like painting with sand. Next a paint brush is used to carefully clean frit off the tree trunks and border. This process is rather intense, leaning over a light table and holding your breathe so as not to scatter the frit. It takes days, often weeks to complete just one piece.  At last, it is carefully placed in the kiln for firing, then framed and signed.

Jeweliyana is no longer making the backlit framed pieces.
There's a limited supply of the larger 10x8" frames left.
Due to glass costs doubling in the past few years, any price shown on a 'sold out' piece is not a reflection of current pricing.
