Collection: Fused Glass Paintings

Imagine, that instead of dipping a brush in paint and stroking it on the canvas, having to cut and grind each individual brushstroke out of glass. This is the first step in Jeweliyana's process. Each piece is then embellished with a high fire liquid glass and carved to add the finer details. Next, each one is painted with smashed up tiny particles of glass (called frit). It is like painting with sand. Finally a paint brush is used to carefully clean frit off the tree trunks and border. This process can be rather intense, leaning over a light table and holding your breathe so as not to scatter the frit. It cna take days or often weeks to complete just one piece.  At last, it is carefully placed in the kiln for firing, then framed and signed.

Jeweliyana is no longer making the backlit framed pieces.
There's a limited supply of the larger 10x8" frames left.
