Camping 101 - Mountain Landscape Painting with Teepees

I started this painting years before I'd ever heard of a residential school. A lot of pondering and prayers for healing happened as I finished it.
Being a Calgarian, visiting the Elbow River Camp at Stampede and seeing the teepees and dances was one of my favorite summer memories. It's a wonderful part of the culture and scenery I grew up around. There is no specific symbolism on the teepees because it is not meant to offend, rather to acknowledge that our indigenous brothers and sisters were here long before we were.
